For “On the Wall,” Evron collected photographic images, negatives, and objects fro the École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem’s extensive archive documenting Temple Mount/Haram Al-Sharif in Jerusalem since the origin of photography to create an immersive photographic environment. Created out of geometric shapes cut from both reproduced enlargements of the École Biblique’s archival images of the Dome of the Rock to the north and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to the south, and from Evron's own photos of the surrounding caves and natural landscape, the resultvisually paralleled Brutalist buildings. Mixing imagery from this archive with his own landscape photography, Evron’s installation was an example of what the artist refers to as “photo-collage architecture.” Like the iconic sites in the imagery, Evron’s installation charted recurring forms and themes across a multitude of overlapping historical, cultural, religious, and political narratives.
