Organized by Public Movement, SALONS: Birthright Palestine? was a series of performative public debates staged as congressional sessions, summit meetings, visioning sessions, diplomatic consultations, secret gatherings, and demonstrations. The Salons looked at Birthright Israel trips to raise questions about nationality and heritage, as well as the politics of tourism and branding. In this project, different publics presented and debated related questions and issues that would inform, affirm, and/or oppose the proposal to consider appropriating the ideological strategies of the trips toward the potential creation of a Birthright Palestine program.
SALONS: Birthright Palestine? was co-commissioned by Artis and the New Museum, New York.
