The action and research group Public Movement presented Positions, a choreographed demonstration inviting people to take a stand on any number of current issues. A participatory performance by the action and research group, it invited the public to embody their preferences, aspirations, and beliefs—manifesting political and philosophical ideas as physical positions in Washington Square Park and Union Square South.
Positions was Public Movement’s first presentation in the United States. It was presented by Artis and the New Museum, as part of the 2012 Triennial, “The Generational,” which included a series of biweekly Salons hosted by Public Movement at the museum.
