Artis and LAXART presented a talk by Tel Aviv-based curator and critic Joshua Simon, director and chief curator of MoBY–Museums of Bat Yam. Following the ideas presented in his book, Neomaterialism (Sternberg Press, 2013), Simon explored the legacy of the dematerialization of currencies and art practices in the 1960s and ’70s, tracing the evolution of a new economy in which symbols behave like materials.
