A Night of Utopian Gestures was a lively and interactive public program in conjunction with the exhibition “Without Reality There Is No Utopia.” The evening brought together artists, musicians, and audiences as they explored human agency and questioned the expected dynamics of public space.
The event featured a special presentation by Dana Yahalomi, the leader of Public Movement, a performative research body that investigates and stages political actions in public spaces (co-presented with Artis) as well as contributions by Michael Swaine, one of the founding members of Futurefarmers, who led a participatory performance; FEMA, an art collective appropriating the mission of a disaster management agency; Swap/Meet SF, an artists’ exchange collective; and music by DJ Patrick Lotilla, Snow Angel, and Micropixie.
