“Swarm” is a large-scale undertaking that surveys the work of artist, musician, and composer Maya Dunietz, marking her first major solo show in Switzerland. The exhibition is curated by Fanni Fetzer, museum director and an alum of the Artis Curatorial Seminar Program (2022). The exhibition consists of a physical installation spread over nine galleries in the museum, accompanied by a newly commissioned sound work presented as part of the contemporary music festival Lucerne Festival Forward. Inspired by the behavior of a swarm of fish, birds, or insects, and by the Sami joik—a monotone guttural singing style performed by the indigenous people of Lapland—Dunietz’s immersive project creates opportunities to pause, listen, and travel through time.
