Imaginary Order documents the seven-year renovation of an emblematic Brutalist building, from a convalescent home into a luxury hotel. The building, situated in the northern-Israeli town of Zikhron Ya’akov, has stood symbolically for the transition of Israel from a socialist to a capitalist society and served many purposes, including as the site of military interrogations following the Yom Kippur War. Azoulay will create large-scale panoramic photographs of the walls exposed during the reconstruction process and highlight the stories of the building’s occupants and former prisoners of war to be shown in a solo exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv.
