Gravity and Grace is a new project developed by artist Ana Wild for Anorak, Berlin. Consisting of a performance and a publication, the project takes the shape of a reading-performance where both performers and audience actively participate, moving together from indoor spaces into the public sphere.
Inspired by the writings of French philosopher Simone Weil, the project explores notions of spirituality, philosophy, ethics, Jewish thought, Canaanite mythology, and Ecocriticism. In a deep investigation into the performativity of the voice, the project reflects on ways in which our inner voices translate into speech, and subsequently develop the potential for social agency. As such, Gravity and Grace mines our understanding of the past, and the myriad ways in which it has shaped contemporary identities.
