The multimedia installation Cursed Spirits, made in collaboration with Yoni Niv, Michael Gurevitch, and Israel Levin, investigates paradoxes that arise from the technology of the image in its political context. Using ad hoc augmented reality software and hardware, the installation merges real-time footage of viewers and pre-recorded video of scenes from Alan Badiou’s play Ahmed the Philosopher to confront notions of subjectivity and the invention of the self. The installation was be presented as part of Segal’s solo exhibition at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art in 2018.
