Playshop was a movement workshop and conversation with artist Tamar Ettun, held over video conference. Rooted in the writing of philosopher Emmanuel Levinas about the significance of in-person, human interactions and how it is required to feel compassion toward others, Ettun’s workshop invites participants to engage remotely in playful, experimental movement that considers how bodies move together, and alone, as an expression of healing. Using fruit and household items as props, Ettun led participants through a series of multisensory movements followed by a facilitated and inclusive conversation, centered on the question: What is empathy in our current moment of social distancing?
