Artis partners with select institutions internationally to support the acquisitions of works by artists from Israel, curatorial research, residency programs, and archival research and digital conservation. Partnership grants are developed with institutions over time and are not open call or application based.
In 2024, Artis is pleased to launch a new initiative that deepens work with residencies worldwide and bolsters professional networks for artists. The Residency Partnership Initiative is a two year program that expands partnerships with residency institutions worldwide to forge fully funded residency opportunities for contemporary artists from Israel. Emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists from Israel, who may be living anywhere in the world, are invited to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) to participate in a residency at one of Artis’ partner institutions in 2024 or 2025. The deadline for artists to apply is 11:59pm EST on February 25, 2024. Please review eligibility, program details, and application instructions HERE.
Artis works closely with the curatorial departments of partner institutions to contribute to select acquisitions. Acquisitions grants are intended to support museums in bringing significant works by major artists from Israel into their permanent collection. Artis will fund up to 50 percent of an acquisition initiated by a partner institution. To learn more about acquisitions, click here.
Artis does not accept unsolicited proposals for acquisition grants. For questions about acquisitions, please write to grants@artiscontemporary.org
Research grants provide support for work that gives context and expands public access to resources and new research on modern and contemporary art from Israel. Grants are provided for the development of new scholarship through publications and programing, and by contributing to the digital conservation of materials such as artists’ films, ephemera, exhibition documentation, and audiovisual files dating back to the 1960s at select archives.
