The Israel Trail Procession was a large-scale performance initiated by Meirav Heiman and Ayelet Carmi. Enacted as a parade of participants traveling The National Israel Trail, a 1,000-kilometer cross-country hiking route that runs from the Lebanese border in the north to Eilat in the south. In contrast with the Zionist ethos of “conquering the land with one’s feet,” here the marchers avoid contact with the ground altogether.
