Stratums (2013) was made for the 2013 Setouchi Triennial. Artist Tanya Preminger invited local residents and volunteers of the island town in Kagawa Prefecture in Japan to help cut into the earth, sculpt the land, and plant grass. The grass-covered earthwork, built for visitors to climb and enjoy different views of the surrounding scenery, has since become a popular new lookout spot. This extensive process was completed only five days before the launch of the Setouchi Triennial and the local residents decided to keep the artwork after the Triennial ended.
