“Sinkholes” at the University of East London is artist Karen Russo’s first solo presentation in a public institute in the UK. Featuring a new film, commissioned for the show, alongside a series of still photographs, the exhibition examines the social and physical implications of the current environmental crisis. Portraying a dystopian reality of a civilization that has gone beyond the verge of collapse, Karen constructs a poetic meditation about entropy, ecology, and colonialism.
