An exhibition exploring the use of sound “Silent Space Stand Still” featured artists Athanasios Argianas, Tarek Atoui, Cevdet Erek, and Dani Gal. Curated by Maria-Thalia Carras and Sofia Tournikiotis, the show was staged in a mosque in central Athens that had long been silent and consisted of a series of sound interventions in the mosque over the period of a month. Through a series of gestures and interventions the exhibition suggested an architecture of sound that can resonate through the site, and its history, touching the people inside it. Dani Gal showed Dumitrescu’s Dream (2010/12), an adaptation of a story Romanian avant-garde composer Iancu Dumitrescu told in an interview about a dream he had during his military service in Romania. The Tzisdaraki Mosque, built in 1759, has been a Museum since 1918. It is currently an annex of the Museum of Greek Folk Art, housing a collection of Modern Greek ceramics.
