Zac Hacmon’s work reflects a desire to use his inquiry of architectural spaces to shine a light on political issues, exploring the relationship between architecture and the human body. While he came to Fountainhead thinking he would spend his time in Miami working on 2D sketches for future sculptures, he ended up transforming the garage studio at the residency over the course of his time there. Experiences in confined spaces and his military service influence Hacmon to play with sculpture to open inquiries about the social politics embedded in architecture, but he is also engaging in adding a participatory, community-building element to his practice.
