Artist Bio
Rachel Anyo is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and social activist whose work delves into themes of identity, gender, community, and family. She graduated with honors from Minshar School of Art in Tel Aviv. Anyo creates a distinct visual language in her work by merging traditional Ethiopian folklore with contemporary digital techniques. In her practice, Anyo reinterprets hand weaving through direct and manipulated photography, handmade and digital collages, video, and sculptural compositions.
Anyo’s solo exhibitions include “Figure Coming to Life” at the Haifa Museum of Art (2024), and “A Love Letter to Myself” at Maya Gallery in Tel Aviv (2023). She has also participated in multiple group exhibitions. Beyond her studio practice, Anyo is deeply committed to community-based art initiatives, working to make contemporary art accessible to underserved audiences. Through collaborative projects, workshops, and exhibitions, she amplifies the voices of marginalized communities, particularly the Israeli-Ethiopian community, fostering social change and enriching the discourse around cultural identity and representation.
