Keren Benbenisty’s residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Program in Brooklyn culminated in a solo exhibition titled “Saxa loquuntur stones speak” at El Museo de Los Sures in New York. Benbenisty transformed the gallery into a scene of excavation where objects from the past were revealed. By conceptualizing the gallery space as an archeology site, the exhibition questioned contemporary interpretations of language and codes, the spoken versus written word, and words versus images.
