Anisa Ashkar spent her time in Paris working on issues related to identity, social criticism, and gender. Through painting, image, performance, and installation, she creates a collection of parallel abnormal situations, directly related to changes in the socio-political atmosphere, that serve as an opportunity to initiate discussions in our society and culture. The Cité internationale des arts also presented her show “Dates of Love,” continuing her exploration of political issues by using the symbolic meanings of different foods as a way to explore current affairs in the Middle East.
