Artist Bio
Khen Shish is a Tel Aviv-based artist working across painting and mixed-media practices. Her early works took the form of total environments that combine painting, drawing, collage, video, and found objects, often incorporating everyday materials such as masking tape, gold wrappers, stickers, and Xerox prints. Her painting is expressive and layered, with a baroque and romantic sensibility that moves between gestural application and delicate drawing while retaining a strong autobiographical dimension.
Over her significant career, Shish has developed a personal visual language that functions as a mythology. Recurring motifs in her works, such as eyes, tears, leaves, boats, horizontal hearts, bent flowers, and pregnant birds, explore tensions between beauty and vulnerability.
Shish holds a BFA from Oranim College, Kiryat Tiv'on (1995) and an MFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (1999).
