Out of Thin Air was a public art installation by Sari Carel commissioned and produced by More Art. The project used techniques from music and sound art to amplify the experience of breath and breathlessness associated with issues of respiratory illness, air quality, and environmental injustice in New York City. The project consisted of four parts: sound recording workshops in neighborhoods most affected by indoor and outdoor air quality issues, a traveling sound installation accompanied by an event series relevant to each community site, and a culminating sound installation in City Hall Park.
