Open Stal is a contemporary art event in Oldeberkoop, the Netherlands, presenting work by over forty artists and collectives across unconventional sites throughout the village.

Ronen Sharabani’s presentation as part of the festival’s 55th edition examines different notions of boundaries. Presented in an industrial basement warehouse, Within Borders is an immersive installation combining large-scale projections, video mapping, and prints, all rendered in white monochrome. The project unfolds in two parts, moving between the collective and the personal, from territorial borders to the boundaries of consciousness. In the first, Sharabani deconstructs landscapes into basic structural units that are shown gathering and dispersing into unstable formations. The second focuses on a single male figure interacting with chairs, which recur throughout Sharabani’s work as markers of order and place. The figure sits on, walks around, and runs across the chairs as they multiply and accumulate in endless loops.
