Artist Bio
Moshe Roas is an artist based in Tel Aviv whose work navigates the intersection of modernist principles and alchemic transformation. His abstract sculptures, installations, and prints explore textiles and traditional craft-making practices, and are motivated by his interests in the transformation of organic and artificial materials by natural forces and the passage of time. His works, often resembling vertebrae, skeletal structures, or enigmatic artifacts, embody a meticulous exploration of form and balance—akin to three-dimensional calligraphy.
Moshe Roas’ recent group exhibitions include “Green Through and Through” at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2024); “Springs” at Bezalel Gallery for Contemporary Art, Jerusalem (2024); “Remote Viewing” at Mocak Museum of Contemporary Art, Krakow (2017), and others. Roas’ solo exhibitions include “Undoing” at Periscope Gallery, Tel Aviv (2013); “Expectancy” at the Uri & Rami Nehoshtan Museum, Ashdot Ya'akov Meuhad, Israel (2019); “34” at The Artists Residence Herzliya, Israel (2020); and “Killing the Dragon” at the Wilfrid Israel Museum of Art, HaZore'a, Israel (2024). Roas graduated with honors from Shenkar Engineering & Design College in Tel Aviv, and the postgraduate program in fine art at Hamidrasha, Beit-Berl. www.roasmoshe.com
