Hila Laviv’s one-person presentation at the Altonaer Museum in Hamburg is a site-specific installation that includes video, sound, text, and sculpture. The project is presented within the museum’s ‘Heimat’ wing, a permanent display dedicated to the concept of home.
The result of intensive research in the Altonaer archives, the exhibition traces the close connections between Laviv’s ancestors and the museum’s collection. Continuing her investigation of the artist’s role as a ‘memory keeper,’ the exhibition deconstructs the notion of home and its relation to memory.
