In a series of new sculptures developed for his exhibition at Vernacular Institute in Mexico City, artist Ariel Schlesinger continues his research into archeologies of violence and the potential of restorative transformation.
Collaborating with local craftsmen and the local community, Schlesinger’s work addresses the relationship between physical materials and the division of labor. It explores how power is distributed through geography and politics, and highlights the postcolonial fragments that are still embedded in the contemporary experience.
