Developed during a residency at Berlin's Künstlerhaus Bethanien that was supported by Artis via the Studio Partnership Program, “Gebr. Israel” explores the residency building's haunting past as a lamp factory, focusing on its former Jewish owners—two brothers who fled Nazi persecution without leaving clear heirs for the building. Presenting a handmade ceramic relief, a video work, and a lamp remodelled after the brothers’ original design, Noy and Tamir embody these historical figures, merging past and present and morphing between identities. The show offers a reflection on the human condition in the 21st century and the implications of lived experiences of war.
