Friendly Fire Ceremonies is a musical film trilogy dedicated to communities devastated by their own military forces. The trilogy is based on research of friendly fire incidents throughout history, and communicates its findings through song. The project embraces the hypothesis that friendly fire incidents carry an antidote to the emotions of hate and revenge that warfare feeds upon. The single property that makes events of this sort unique is the utter lack of an “Other” to blame, thus enabling the victim to empathize with the perpetrator and the perpetrator with the victim.
