Forecast Festival presents a screening of artist Keren Cytter’s 8 mm film trilogy Meltdown as part of the festival’s 11th edition at Radialsystem in Berlin. Across the three short films, Hot Lava Night (2023), Queens in Queens (2024), and the titular Meltdown (2024), Cytter depicts the turbulent internal states of her characters and the chaotic world they inhabit as they navigate intimate relationships and global dystopia—echoed in the fragmented, nonlinear structure of the films.
Cytter is one of six mentors in Forecast’s mentorship program in 2026, supporting emerging creatives through close collaboration and guidance. As a mentor, Cytter selects three nominees to workshop and present their projects during the festival before choosing a final mentee, whom she will accompany in the development and realization of a new work through a joint residency.
Keren Cytter, Queens in Queens (from the Meltdown trilogy), 2024, still from an 8 mm digitized film, sound, 13:18 min.
