In this project, presented in Fatma Shanan: Works 2010-2017, The 2016 Haim Shiff Prize, a solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Fatma Shanan collaborated with youth in her home village of Julis on a defiant performative act. They spread woven carpets on the rooftops, streets, and highways, disrupting the day-to-day routine of the village. A drone documented the action from above, where participants are assimilated into the larger texture of the image. Shanan created a video documenting the collaborative work and process with participating teens, as well as their take on the project, providing a glimpse into the lives and thoughts of young Druzes in Israel.
