Artist Joshua Neustein was included in the group exhibition “Expanded Painting” as part of the 6th Prague Biennale. Devoted to the legacy and current status of painting, the exhibition spanned from traditional oil-on-canvas paintings to video, video installations, readymade objects, sculptures, as well as documentation of historical actions. “Expanded Painting” is a section of the Prague Biennale that is repeated in every edition. Curated by Giancarlo Politi, Helena Kontova, and Nicola Trezzi, this edition focused on “the materiality of painting,” that is, the variety of media and techniques employed by contemporary artists and their attention toward the “ingredients of a painting,” following a tradition started by figures like Alberto Burri and Jean Dubuffet.
