“Endurance” was Nir Evron’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles. It displayed Evron’s new work, Endurance, commissioned by LAXART. The third part of the artist’s architectural triptych, which focuses on buildings in Jerusalem and its surrounding environs including The Seven Arches Hotel on Mount of Olives, King Hussein’s unfinished summer palace in North Jerusalem, and Rawabi, the new planned Palestinian city under construction in the West Bank. Through poetic investigations of space, the artist speaks to polemics, histories, identities and territories through formalist strategies. Endurance initially suggests modernist abstraction, however the film is a mapping of the interior of one of Rawabi’s model apartments. The film debuted at LAXART in July 2014 and subsequently traveled to the Tel Aviv Museum.
To compliment Evron’s project, LAXART staged Orit Raff’s first solo exhibition in LA, “Priming,” in the adjoining gallery. Both organized by Lauri Firstenberg, an Artis’ Curatorial Seminar alum.
