Drummerrsss was installed in spring 2020 at the Jewish Museum Berlin as part of the permanent exhibition. The multi-channel video installation presents two drummers, one playing from inside a deep hole in the ground, the other suspended from the sky, as metaphors for the nation-state and spiritual belief systems. The project was shot in Saarland, Germany. Known for its forests and its rich resources of coal and ore, Saarland was for many years a strategic, economical, and political asset and subject to numerous conflicts. Its history, and unique and valuable landscape, address questions of identity and territory. Drummerrsss strives to relate to such concepts by integrating the elements of earth and air by means of rhythm, beat, and sound.
