With 21 large-scale works covering four decades of artistic production “Distance and Differences”, curated by Ory Dessau, was Zvi Goldstein’s largest solo exhibition to date. In Goldstein’s work, modernist categories such as reverie and theory, information and aesthetics, and context and presence are no longer opposites. Goldstein applies the methods of Conceptual art to his photographs, films, sculptures, installations and texts, mostly creating aesthetic systems that work as visual prompts for discussion, which he then broadens and explores in his writing. The exhibition at S.M.A.K. shows this mixture of modern and postmodern ideas, coming up with a unique vision of contemporaneity.
