“Deep Time” examines the concept of time, its malleability, and the means by which it is marked, as recurring themes in Hinda Weiss’s art practice. In After The Desert Goat, Weiss explores the limits of narrative time. It has no singular defining moment—each scene of the video pans seamlessly into the next; Postcard from Tel Aviv explores the process of historiography in Tel Aviv; and in the work 7pm, Weiss documents the daily applause for frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, archiving the development of a new ritual for marking the passage of time. Drawing out the importance of time in Weiss’s oeuvre, the works in this exhibition also question the changing role of time amid the pandemic.
