Culture Now is a series of conversations at the ICA featuring key figures from the contemporary arts scene. In 2014, the ICA led a conversation with Tel Aviv-based artist Ariel Reichman and ICA curator Juliette Desorgues, following her participation in an Artis curatorial seminar in October 2013. Working in the fields of photography, film, performance, drawing, sculpture and installation, Reichman’s work examines subjective memories, daily rituals, and fantasies, considering the ways in which intimacy can help explain the political. The conversation follows Reichman’s first solo show in the UK at Waterside Contemporary, “Who distinguishes between light and dark” (January 17–March 22, 2014). The artist discussed his wider practice within the context of his Waterside Contemporary show and other recent projects.
