“City Limits'' is an exhibition featuring work by Yael Efrati (b. Israel, 1978), Monika Sosnowska (b. Poland, 1972) and Asta Gröting (b. in Germany, 1961), three artists investigating ways in which architectural elements influence political, social and historical realities. Furthermore, these three artists share a strong interest in hyper-realism as an aesthetic. In this context, Yael Efrati’s works are reconstructions of the architectural elements seen in social housing that were implemented in Israel to house large numbers of immigrants from Eastern Europe that arrived in the aftermath of the second world war. Efrati’s works, and the visible architectural elements, tell a poetic and personal story of cities built hastily in fragile land.
Following this presentation at the Centre of Polish Sculpture, the exhibition will travel to the Bat Yam Museum in Israel, and additional venues internationally.
