Dor Guez’s first institutional exhibition in Latin America, “Catastrophe: Selected Works 2008–21” is also the most comprehensive show devoted to his work. Taking up three different floors of the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá (MAMBO), the exhibition presents the artist’s work across a variety of mediums, including films, photographs, source materials, and texts. Curated by Eugenio Viola, “Catastrophe” features seminal projects like the video trilogy The Sick Man of Europe (2015–17), displayed for the first time together, and The Christian Palestinian Archive (2009–ongoing), as well as recent and other works that explore the artist’s family’s Jewish-Arab narrative. A symposium and video screenings are presented as part of the exhibition.
Following the presentation at MAMBO, the exhibition was presented at the Laboratorio Arte Alameda in Mexico City (April-June, 2023), and Artis provided a travel grant to Dor Guez for this presentation.
