Rotterdam-based artist duo Bik Van der Pol were supported by a 2016 travel and research grant to travel to Israel and work with the Israeli Center for Digital Art on site-specific research in Jesse Cohen, the neighborhood in Holon where the Center is located. Jesse Cohen is experiencing intense and rapid change as a result of an urban renewal process and growing immigrant community. Bik Van der Pol will investigate these changes, looking specifically at housing struggles, issues of place-making, and the role of an art institution in serving the community. Their travel will coincide with a symposium at the Israeli Center for Digital Art, where they will present their work publicly and organize a workshop for local students.
