Nevet Yitzhak presents a collection of ancient and forgotten objects in The Cultural Question. Inspired by Israel’s prototype museum, a wunderkammer (cabinet of curiosities) founded by Boris Schatz in 1912 to educate students at the Bezalel School of Art. The Cultural Question reexamines the Orientalist approach Schatz and his contemporaries used to construct a “new” art and culture of Israel, and will be presented in a solo exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv.
