Fantasy America
The Andy Warhol Museum
Pittsburgh, PA
October 15, 2020–February 21, 2021

Fantasy America is inspired by Andy Warhol’s final publication America, a collection of photos and writing by Warhol during his travels across the United States, assembled over a ten-year timespan. Warhol reflects on ways that poverty, politics, technology, immigration, and homelessness contribute to what it means to be an American. Fantasy America is a group exhibition that will highlight the contemporary artists Naama Tsabar, Nona Faustine, Kambui Olujimi, Chloe Wise, and Pacifico Silano, whose art practices react to their own place and time. Using Warhol’s chapter titles, the artists will provide fresh interpretations, seek answers, and inspire a dialogue with museum visitors about the current state of America.
