About the Work

Notes from the Christian-Palestinian Archive includes a 1:1 scan of the artist’s personal notebook, where he keeps information about the different images within this archive as part of his research and categorizing system.

Dor Guez is an artist and scholar from Jerusalem whose installations combine diverse modes of video and photographic practices. Guez’s cultural heritage is Christian Palestinian and Jewish Tunisian. With this diverse background Guez’s artwork rouses questions about contemporary art’s role in narrating unwritten histories. In 2009, Guez founded the Christian-Palestinian Archive (CPA), the first archive devoted to the Christian-Palestinian minority of the Middle East. It contains collections of scanned archival materials from the first half of the 20th Century that document the personal histories of the Christian-Palestinian community worldwide.
