Artis supports contemporary artists from Israel whose work addresses aesthetic, social, and political questions that inspire reflection and debate. Artis is a nonprofit organization based in New York.

Our programs facilitate opportunities for arts professionals to connect with artists from Israel; foster artist engagement with the art world outside of Israel; and contextualize art from Israel within international contemporary art discourse.

עמותת ארטיס הוקמה בניו יורק בשנת 2004 על ידי רבקה סקר מתוך מטרה לתמוך ביצירתם של אמנים.ות מישראל בשדה הבינלאומי, ועל מנת ליצור ולקדם הזדמנויות חדשות לחשיפה והכרות בינלאומית עם עבודותיהם של האמנים הללו ועם ההקשר התרבותי-חברתי ממנו הן צמחו.
מאז הקמתה, ארטיס תמכה במספר רב של אמנים.ות ומוסדות אמנות מקומיים ומחו"ל באמצעות מגוון של תכניות ומענקים שונים. אלה כוללים סיורי מחקר לאוצרים.ות בינלאומיים בישראל לשם יצירת דיאלוג מתמשך עם אמנים.ות מקומיים, מענקי תמיכה בתערוכות בחו"ל, תמיכה ברכש של יצירות אמנות על ידי מוסדות בינלאומיים מובילים, תכניות שהות אמן בחו"ל לשם פרוייקטים יעודיים ולמתן חשיפה אישית והכרות עם שדה האמנות הבינלאומי, ועוד.
החזון של ארטיס מכוון לעידוד פלורליזם וריבוי של קולות בספירה הציבורית. התמיכה המתמשכת של הארגון באמנים.ות עכשוויים מישראל ניתנת לאמנים.ות ללא הבדלי דת, מוצא אתני, מין, שיוך פוליטי או תלות בזהות לאומית נוספת.

We believe that artists have the power to generate transformative experiences and ideas. We support artists of any religion, ethnicity, race, gender, or political persuasion. We support freedom of speech and artistic expression for all people. To maintain our independence, we do not seek or accept governmental funds.
About
Artis believes that artists generate transformative experiences and ideas that are essential to culture and to people’s view of the world. Promoting a thoughtful understanding of the work of artists from Israel, Artis provides grants for contemporary artists, art professionals, and art institutions that inspire multiple perspectives within a global discourse. The organization is committed to a dialogue about contemporary art from Israel that places it within an international art context, participating in a conversation about contemporary art that is open, questioning, and nuanced.
Artis was founded in New York in 2004 by philanthropist Rivka Saker in order to support the work of artists from Israel internationally, expanding recognition for their work, and creating new opportunities for cultural exchange. Artis works in a sustainable, ongoing way with artists who are establishing themselves internationally. Since its founding, Artis has supported artists and institutions through scholarship funds for an MFA program in New York; professional development programs; curatorial research and travel; and grants supporting exhibitions, residencies, and acquisitions.
Artis connects artists, curators, and the public through programs that emphasize long-term dialogue and conversation. The organization’s sustained support for contemporary artists from Israel is provided to artists of any religion, ethnicity, race, gender, political persuasion, or additional national identity.

Artis raises its annual budget without governmental funds through the generosity of individuals and foundations that share the organization’s values. Generous support is provided by the Artis Board of Directors, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, Fooksman Family Foundation, and Bollag Guggenheim AG.
